SNR 34: Virtual Runway Show

"The Silver Needle Runway is the largest event production presented by Marist College. Since 1984, the show has continued to heighten levels of expertise, professionalism, and creativity. The runway features garments designed and realized by our talented senior Fashion Design students in a professional runway setting. This year, the dedicated Fashion Show Production class has taken a new approach to the show, creating a digital platform for the immensely talented senior design students to showcase their work. Below, you will find our mission statement for our 34th annual Silver Needle Runway."

awaken

Explore your world. Evoke your senses. Expand your mind. Awaken your perspective.

"This year, Marist Fashion will transform the Annual Silver Needle Runway from a traditional event to a platform for change and impact. The environment is an intricate part of our existence. It is the one thing all of us share and it deserves our mutual respect. We are all responsible for protecting this beautiful, strong, yet fragile world we live in. When it comes to preserving our planet, we believe celebrating it is the best way to begin. Through this show, we will celebrate nature in its rawest form. Our show is rooted in the concept of balance. Everything we will take from the Earth, we intend to give back by focusing on the life cycle of every single component involved in the event’s production. We strive to awaken people’s senses and reconnect them with the earth again- reminding everyone why something this special is worth saving."

Designer Shoutout: Katrina Henry

" Designer Katrina Henry has utilized Marist Fashion’s hands-on courses to broaden her horizons and express her creativity. When reflecting upon her time at Marist, one thing she has learned is to “keep pushing yourself to be the best version and designer of yourself, because all the hard work will pay off”. Design internships with Josie Natori and another with Maurices, where she will be returning with full-time employment following her graduation at Marist, have provided her with irreplaceable experiences and opportunity. Through all of her hard work, Katrina has developed a collection in which her inspiration stems from the female pioneers of aviation. Her senior collection, Take Flight, incorporates the delicate and fluid movement of a parachute, blended with elements of functional utility fashion. The functional and fashionable wardrobes developed by female pioneers such as Elinor Smith, Amelia Earhart, and Harriet Quimby are at the root of Katrina’s collection. With block printing her patterns, extensive topstitch detailing, and unique closures and utility aspects, her inspiration radiates from her garments"
