The Bessie: Senior Collection Look 6

The Bessie consists of three powerful pieces, each inspired by a pioneer of aviation.

The Bessie Trench:

Bessie Coleman was the first black women to earn a pilot's license. She received this certification in France because at the time, she was not permitted to attend an American flight school. Bessie was know for always wearing her leather trench flight jacket and became very well know for her sleek aviation style.

The Lillian Utility Dress:

Lillian Todd was the first women to design and build an aircraft in 1906. Knowing the importance of aviation education, Lillian started the first Junior Aero Club in 1908 to help educate and plan for the future aviation. This classic utility dress reflects the simplicity of design and embodies the timelessness of re-invention.

The Elsie Pickles Luggage:

Elsie Pickles worked during World War II as one of Boeing's Rosie the Riveters. She bucked rivets under many of the B-29 aircrafts being built in the factories. Like many other women in factories, her efforts helped create the aircraft that assisted the win of the war.
